RE: SPEC-Benchmark: Apple G4

(by Duncan, @ 1:46 PM)

Several people have already pointed The Register | Benchmarks demolish Apple speed boasts out to me.

I'm not going to defend/attack the benchmark results other than to say that a the 2nd processor support and AltiVec boosts were not enabled. As someone who has always had a high respect for SPEC I'm not going to belittle/fudge this issue. There's no doubt that it's a setback for Apple. I'll need to look carefully at the results and will not draw hasty conclusions until I have done so.

I've been far too busy to update today (or yesterday for that matter). Normal service will resume as soon as possible!

O'Reilly Network: Apache Web-Serving With Mac OS X, Part 5
In Part 5 of this series, we're going to look at installing MySQL as well as creating a simple PHP script that creates a database, adds some information, and then returns the data to the browser. Be aware that this article is not a tutorial for SQL or the intricacies of running MySQL--we focus on the installation on OS X only. If you need a brush up on SQL, check out O'Reilly's excellent aboutSQL series.
