Snowstorm

(by Duncan, @ 3:54 PM)

Snowstorm: A snowstorm is like a hailstorm except that it stings less when you get caught in it. A snowstorm is likely to drift more or less aimlessly driven by the winds of change creating great drifts of snow that are virtually impassable.

Most people prefer a snowstorm to a hailstorm since it evokes childhood memories of sledging, snowmen, snowball fights, and generally having fun. There's a magical quality to the eery silence as snow gently falls lulling us into a false sense of security. Contrast this with the cacophony of sound as hailstones beat down on the roof of our shelters. Some hailstones are so large thay they can kill on impact.

RE: Dunbar Grammar School

(by Duncan, @ 12:18 AM)

Don Ledingham's has posted his follow up and thoughts on web logging for schools. We both hope that some of students - university and school - contribute to this thread. As can anyone else of course who has an interest in weblogging to support teaching and learning.

Comments welcome in response to Don's post and/or my reply. Thanks.

I guess I could add 'trustworthiness' to my reasons for holding certain weblogs in high regard in the list I included in my reply to Seth's post about 'The National Post, on Weblogs'.
