Pushback to Apple

I've been an Apple developer since 1979, twenty-one years, so I think I know something about Apple culture. Apple has always placed more value on converting developers who don't make software for the Mac. So if you want me to help the Mac, I'm glad to do it, but please fix this bug. It would be nice if we were rewarded for supporting the Mac, instead of being taken for granted.

I, for one, would like to go on record and thank Dave Winer and the rest of the Userland team publicly for their continued support of the Macintosh platform. For any number of reasons it can't have been easy to develop, in parallel, Frontier (and Radio Userland) for both the Mac and the PC. I cannot think of another application that is developed in such close synchronisation and where the Mac version is treated as equally important as the PC version. I will always be immensely grateful for the fact that both my favourite apps - BBEdit being the other - continue to be actively developed and updated for my favourite platform. In fact I would go as far as to say that were it not for Frontier and BBEdit I doubt I'd still be a Mac user.

So I really hope Apple realises what an asset Frontier and Radio Userland is to the beleaguered Macintosh community. Although the Frontier community may be small in comparison to the 'big' Mac apps communities I am confident in my assertion that you'd be hard pressed to find a better bunch of Apple users and developers. The friendliness and helpfulness of the Frontier community is without equal. Mac + Frontier is IMHO an awesome combination and I count my blessings everyday for the privilege of using two such great products and being part of this great community.
