Hi,
thanks a lot for your extensive reply.
Unfortunately my iBook is not covered by Apple's programme. And as I've already opened the case myself before, I'm afraid I willl not get any extended warranty on my ibook.
My ibook is not affected by the hinge problem.
It's definetely the logicboard, but i doubt it is the graphics-chip as it is just the backlight that fails, the graphics itself are perfect.
In another post in this thread I read the following: "I've heard of someone being able to fix it by doing a bypass operation on the board, soldering a wire before the break and soldering it directly on the backlight connector."
I was hoping to find some more information about htis fix.
But all the threads in the discussions at apple.com only mention the rubber band fix. Which is not really a permanent soluion and my cause my iBook to stop working totally. Also these threads about the rubber band fix are all suggesting that the fix is to stop the videochip from coming loose. Which I doubt is the case with my ibook because it's just the backlight. And I don't think the backlight has anything to do with the graphics chip.
I will go on and look for a soldering fix for my ibook.
Greetings,
Bart Dubelaar
