I've got the exact same problem. My backlight stopped working, and pressing on the cas just under the option key will bring the backlight back on. How dit you solve your problems? An could you tell me if you remember where exactly you read about the bypass wire solution? I'm willing to solder a bypass on the logicboard to solve this issue, but I don't have clue where the defect could be.
