Chris (aka Pickle) comments on the inaugural meeting of geekSoc:

Talking of social skills one thing I noticed was that the intial discussion about a geekSoc society on the department newsgroup had quite a few contributions from lots of different people but when we got together in a face-to-face situation there wasn't much talking going on for the first 40min or so. I suppose we are geekSoc what should I expect :) I'm sure we'll be better next time, now that we know each other.

I, too, found it somewhat strange that there wasn't more discussion taking place. I chipped in with my comments when the periods of silence started to get embarassingly long. I did try not to say too much but it was difficult at times. Hopefully I didn't come across as an interfering BOF.
