> I'm now in Dunbar Grammar School demonstrating weblogging
Don and I were pleased at the turn-out of students and parents and the reception to the idea of eXtreme Learning.
Earlier to today I spent a couple of hours or so refreshing my memory from the posts in the Extreme Learning (XL) thread and compiling a PowerPoint presentation (heavily) summarising the main points. Taking a leaf out of the approach to Extreme Programming I reused some of the slides from my IWMW-2002 weblogging session. In the end, I didn't cover the weblogging slides but have left them in as background reading.
Don and I talked for about 20-25 minutes about XL and then took questions. We were delighted at the positive response to the idea of piloting XL in the school. I think all the students indicated their willingness to be involved and the parents seemed supportive too.
Don will now write a follow-up letter the the parents/students that had originally expressed their interest explaining that the project is to go ahead and inviting participation in the pilot. The next month or so is going to be rather busy as we set up the server hardware and install and configure the Conversant CMS. I'm looking forward to the challenges ahead.
I don't know if any of the students/parents that attended the meeting will read this. I hope they do and, even better, contribute to the discussion.
