David Bayly pushes back in Dave lectures me on integrity:

Dave suddenly decided that I and a couple of other dissident voices are the people behind the parody website, Winerlog which he has just finally chucked off his "free" website server editthispage.com. I'm a keen reader of Winerlog but I have never written for it. As parody, it wasn't that great. As a proof of Winers free speech credentials, it was an important test - which he has now signally failed. In the event Winerlog re-located itself to Winerlog. I reported the move on the Script Meridian community list and now I am, according to Winer "out of the closet. You can't get back in once you're out. ;>"

Shit! Dave Winer is one volatile guy. I was beginning to think that with the shipping of Radio he had mellowed somewhat. This isn't the first time DW has made accusations against David (see my comment about Baylys: Ahoy! Pirates off the coast of Userland for instance. Perhaps it's an hormonal imbalance from working so hard after shipping Radio!? Who knows? For me, DW's irrationality is a disincentive to work on Radio and enhance it's functionality. I wonder how long it will be before other Radio 'enthusiasts' suffer the wrath of Dave. And how does DW resolve this recent comment of his:

"This is fascinating. I don't get why Garth doesn't just use copy-paste and build exactly the system he wants. I don't care if he does that, any more than Apple cared that Microsoft Word and FullWrite were better than MacWrite, or that Photoshop gave bitmap minded people the tool they totally loved (as opposed to MacPaint). Our code may inspire you, that's the point. But anything that depends on modifying our code is going to break. Also write specs for callbacks, I love adding clever callback hooks to our code."
with this, this, and this?

So, I wonder what would happen if I took my own personal guest database version of the bbsite suite and converted this into a Radio tool. I have to presume that, like David Bayly, I would get some nasty e-mails from Userland. The same goes for any other Tools that might be produced and that were originally inspired by Userland's code. In the extreme, Radio developers would need to employ 'clean room' development processes that were/are used in the days of the IBM PC BIOS reverse-engineering from functional specs. For more information on this technique see Google Search: IBM PC BIOS clean room reverse engineer - noting the #3 hit: http://davenet.userland.com/1996/12/06/DoesAnyoneOwnSyntax

Hmm!
